residenzplatz, salzburg

The Residenzplatz, with the Residenzbrunnen of Untersberg marble, the largest and finest Baroque fountain this side of the Alps, is the work of an Italian sculptor (1656-61). It stands 50 feet high, with figures of bold horses, Atlas figures bearing dishes, dolphins, and a Triton with a conch shell at the top. Unfortunately, this magnificent fountain was covered up for the winter, so Justin and I could only see the top part.
